Course OUTLINE
This is a nationally recognised statement of attainment. It will give you the knowledge
and skills to provide a first aid response in a range of situations including
community and workplace settings.
Course Overview
Course Topics:
Our course has been designed to meet the requirements for the HLTAID011 Provide First
Aid statement of attainment. You will learn how to:
• Conduct a hazard assessment and identify strategies to minimise risk
• Demonstrate safe manual handling techniques
• Assess airway, breathing and responsiveness of casualty
• Perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both infant resuscitation
manikin and an adult resuscitation manikin
• Follow the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Conduct a verbal secondary survey
• Apply first aid procedures for a wide range of situations
• Provide an accurate verbal report of the incident
• Respond to at least three simulated emergency scenarios contextualised to
the candidate’s workplace/community setting.
Why do this COURSE?
This course is the current recognised accredited course in generalised first aid
course that employers require.
Entry Requirements:
There are no pre requisites into the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. However, you must have a reasonable ability with language, literacy and numeracy to be able to fulfil the training and assessment requirements of this course.
Course Duration
This course is across two days as follows:
• Pre workshop – you complete self-paced study and on completion submit your
answers to Nurse training for marking.
• 1-day workshop.

Assessments
As this is a nationally recognise statement of attainment, you will be required to successfully complete all topics to a standard to ensure that you can provide first aid competently.
The assessments are:
• Knowledge based test which contain written multiple choice questions and scenarios.
• Practical demonstration where you will be observed by one of our assessors.
Course Delivery
Delivery is a combination of methods to cover the theory and practice requirements.
These methods include:
• Self-paced study and support to develop your knowledge of the concepts above
• Face to face instruction in a simulated environment to give you that valuable practice.
Training rooms contain:
• CPR Mannequins,
• Bandages for splints, dressing wounds
• all other equipment required to cover topics
Recognition of RPL and Credit Transfer
You may have developed a number of skills in providing first aid, through previous employment opportunities, life experience or formal studies. If this is the case, then you may apply for recognition of prior learning and be assessed without training and practice.

Cost of the course
Fees for this course are $150 as negotiated by organisation (GST exempt).
