Course Outline

This qualification focuses on the role of workers who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers adopt a person-centred approach, work with or without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with the appropriate Commonwealth, State/Territory legislation and Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

Target students want to pursue a career in a facility such as a Disability Homes, Nursing Home, Hostel, Residential Care Facility, Community Health Care Centre and other Disability related services.
NTA’s Graduates will be equipped to seek employment in the following roles:

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must complete at least 120 hours of work Placement in a an Ageing, Disability services organisation or related services as detailed in the Assessment requirements of the Unit of Competency (UoC).

This course is delivered at the following location:

Prospective students may have developed a number of skills in community care, through previous employment, life experience and/or formal studies. If this is the case, they are encouraged to enquire about Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) which may shorten their course. For example, Students holding a current First Aid Certificate from a recognised RTO, can receive credit towards for the Provide First Aid Unit.

After achieving the Certificate IV in Ageing Support you have a number of pathway options. Some of them include:
NTA will decide the course fees based on the credit transfer and Unit of Competency required to achieve the qualification. Fees are payable by Cheque, Money order, Cash, Internet or Bank Deposit. NTA may enter into payment plans depending on student needs on a case by case basis.
